What comes to mind when you think of the name Luxor? Perhaps an ancient Egyptian city on the banks of the Nile River, ancient monuments, royal tombs, and the expansive desert. Imagine if all of the above were transported to Las Vegas, and you've got the Luxor Hotel. The Circus Circus Enterprises hired Egyptologists to get all the details right, including a nearly perfect replica of Tutankhamun's tomb and a river that toured through the entire premises. Much of its original theme was lost in the intervening renovations when the MGM Group took over, but the sleek black exterior and the phoenix at the entrance are hard to miss even today.
